FAMILIES: Berger and Brown

New York natives Hyman S. Berger (d. 1964) and his wife, Helen Brown (d. 1972), arrived in Lake City in 1945 to open a jewelry business. Hyman’s younger brother, Arthur Berger (d. 1950) joined them in 1947. After taking a watch repair course, Arthur worked at his brother’s store for two years until his death in 1950. The business likely closed after Hyman’s own untimely death in 1964, at the age of 46.
