306 Park Avenue SE

FAMILIES: Efron

Jake and Helen Efron established a dry goods store on Park Avenue in 1922. He had moved to Aiken to join his mother, Ida Surasky, and several siblings who arrived the previous year, and his maternal uncles, the Surasky brothers. The store sold dresses made by Helen and eventually expanded to include groceries. It later became a grocery store and was still in operation in 1954.

The Jewish Merchant Project is supported by the generosity of the Henry & Sylvia Yaschik Foundation and the Stanley B. Farbstein Endowment at the Coastal Community Foundation.
