Hyman Ougust (1874-1932), also known as Hyman August, briefly operated a leather goods and beauty shop,” known as “August’s” in the city directory, after closing New York Loan Office, a pawnshop he operated from 1910 until 1926. After August’s closed, Ougust opened Cinderella Beautiful Slipper Shop in the same storefront previously used by his pawn shop, New York Loan Office

Longtime members of the JHSSC, Mr. Arnold obm, a merchant himself, and Mr. Farbstein obm were both children of South Carolina Jewish merchants.
