FAMILIES: Levkoff

George Levkoff (1881–1959) was born to Ukrainian Jewish immigrants Henry (1852–1919) and Hannah (1854–1937) Levkoff in Macon, Georgia. In 1911, Geroge married Russian Jewish immigrant Jennie Surasky (1889–1942), and together they had five children. George and his twin brother Lazarus “Laz” Levkoff (1881–1933) ran several businesses together, first in Camden and later in Columbia. In 1932 George established George’s Auction House, later called George’s Antique Shop, on the corner of Gervais and Park Street. George and his sons operated the antique shop for twenty-seven years until George fell ill and was forced to retire. George died shortly thereafter.
