FAMILIES: Iseman

Born in Harleesville (now Little Rock), South Carolina, to merchants Meyer (1849-1919) and Hattie Iseman (1858-1922), Leon Iseman (1891-1975) likely worked in his family’s dry goods store before marrying  Russian immigrant, Ethel Robinson (1899-1987) in the 1910s. In 1923, Leon and Ethel moved to Hartsville where Leon initially worked as a salesman and a self-employed junk dealer. In the 1940s, Leon and Ethel opened L. Iseman Grocery and managed the business together for many years.
