Barnett & Son

Mayesville, SC

Around 1880, Joseph Barnett (1851-1902), the oldest son of Sumter merchant B.J. Barnett (1826-1897) and his wife Zelda Barnett (c.1829-1882), partnered up with his father to form general merchandise business Barnett & Son in Mayesville, South Carolina. Managed by Joseph, the business remained in operation until the pair dissolved their partnership in 1884.
