Clarence Iseman

Manning, SC

Clarence Iseman (1892-1933), son of Manning merchant Simon Iseman (1850-1928) and Ellen Levi (1859-1939), got his start as a merchant traveling through the Clarendon County countryside peddling grains for George D. Shore & Bro of Sumter. By 1920, Iseman opened a grocery store in Manning. A decade later, he was working as a general merchandise merchant.

The Jewish Merchant Project is supported by the generosity of the Henry & Sylvia Yaschik Foundation and the Stanley B. Farbstein Endowment at the Coastal Community Foundation.
