In 1889, Joseph Keyserling (1865-c.1920) immigrated to the United States from Russia. After he settled in Beaufort, Keyserling managed the MacDonald-Wilkins Company’s store in Dale. Soon thereafter, Keyserling moved to Beaufort to run the MacDonald-Wilkins store there. Keyserling’s younger brother, Israel Keyserling (1876-1965), then managed the store at Dale. Eventually, Joseph Keyserling’s son, King Keyserling, and his daughter-in-law, Polly Keyserling, operated the store at Dale.
