FAMILIES: Jacobs

Prussian immigrant Mitchell Jacobs arrived in Manning, South Carolina in 1856 and later moved to Australia in 1959. With the start of the Civil War in 1861, Jacobs returned to South Carolina, where he joined the 21st Regiment of the South Carolina Infantry. Following the war, he worked as a retail and grocery merchant in Manning until around 1900.
