After St. Matthews merchant Morris Jarecky died in 1918, his sons, Albert (1888-1964) and Mortimer (1881-1931), carried on his mercantile activities under the business Morris Jarecky & Sons. Morris Jarecky & Sons remained in business until around 1923. That year, Mortimer graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Albert likely ran the business on his own in its final years. After Morris Jarecky & Sons ceased operation, both brothers moved to Augusta, Georgia, where Albert worked as a cotton merchant and Mortimer worked as a lawyer.
