Around 1930, Sollie Krasnoff (1907-2005), son of Bishopville merchant Abraham Meyer Krasnoff (1872-1954) and Jennie Levinson (1884-1947), opened Sollie Krasnoff’s Department Store on Main Street in Bishopville. The store remained in operation until Krasnoff retired in 1973. Krasnoff’s wife, Mildred Brill (1914-1998), worked part-time in the store. A prominent member of the Bishopville community, Krasnoff served as a member of the Bishopville Town Council from 1959 to 1965.
