While little is known about early Charleston merchant Solomon Aaron Junior, the city directory lists him as a shopkeeper at 46 King Street in 1794. According to a 1795 advertisement in the South Carolina Gazette, he sold jewelry, watches, and sterling pieces. The following year, his stock—which also included furniture, hardware, and dry goods—was sold at auction to cover his mounting debts. Post office notices in The Southern Patriot suggest Aaron continued to live in Charleston until around 1829.
