FAMILIES: Stotsky

Born in present-day Vilnius, Lithuania, Nathan (1887-1969) and Max Stotsky (1899-1964) immigrated to the United States at a young age and originally established Stotsky Brothers was in Saluda, South Carolina. In 1924, Nathan and Max announced the opening of a second store location in Newberry, which they referred to as “The Outlet,” in contrast to their original store in Saluda, which they began to call “The Boston Store.” At both locations, they sold clothing and other dry goods before filing for bankruptcy in 1928.
