Around 1919, Russian immigrant Solomon Krasnoff (1874-1936) opened clothing, shoe, and dry goods store The Battery in Bishopville, South Carolina. A prospective merchant, Krasnoff also owned stores in Sumter, Sardinia, St. Charles, Summerton, and Manning.
