FAMILIES: Krasnoff; Ness

In August 1899, Solomon L. Krasnoff (1874-1936) founded furniture store The New Idea Co. in Manning, South Carolina. In 1903, he sold the business to relative Max M. Krasnoff (1873-1939), who immigrated to the United States from Russia in 1891. The New Idea Co. continued operation until 1922. During its existence, Morris Ness (1887-1975) and Max’s relative, Perry Krasnoff (1882-unknown), managed the store. Ness relocated to Denmark, South Carolina in 1924, and Perry went on to open stores in Mullins, Sumter, and Elloree.
