David Steinberg (1889-1955) immigrated to the United States from Poland in 1921. Around 1925, he married Sadie Steinberg (1895-1966), with whom he had two children. By 1930, the Steinbergs were living in Bishopville, South Carolina, where David operated a shoe repair and sales shop. His shop remained in business through at least 1942.
