St. Matthews, SC

FAMILIES: Goldiner

In 1946, Alexander Goldiner (1900-1983), son of Orangeburg merchant Louis Goldberg (1870-1940), purchased Herman Benjamin’s (1900-1983) dry goods store on Railroad Avenue in St. Matthews, South Carolina. In its place, he opened Goldiner’s Department Store, from which he sold clothes and dry goods. Goldiner and his wife, Algie M. Bray Goldiner (1906-1987), operated the store through at least 1968.
