Jake Iseman

Grocery
c.1928-1931

Manning, SC

FAMILIES: Iseman

After the dissolution of Manning dry goods and furnishings firm Iseman-Wienberg Company, Jake Iseman (1887-1931)—formerly a partner in mercantile firm The Crescent—went to work as a grocery clerk, most likely in the store of his father, Simon Iseman (1850-1928). Following the death of Simon in 1928, however, Jake went into the grocery business under his own name. Indeed, the 1930 Census lists him working as a grocery store merchant. Jake most likely worked as a grocer until his death in 1931.
