From about 1825 to about 1830, Judah Barrett (died c.1854), relative of South Carolina merchants Isaac (c.1791-1834) and Jacob Barrett (1792-1871), operated Judah Barrett & Co., a general store in Columbia. Judah Barrett & Co. operated in a formal partnership with Charleston general store Isaac Barrett & Co., and Columbia general stores Jacob Barrett & Co. and Barrett & Dunlap until 1827. Judah Barret was a partner in Barrett & Dunlap along with John G. Dunlap (died 1882).
