Around 1886, Samuel Marks (birth/death undetermined) and Polish immigrant Harris Needle (c.1841-1904) founded wholesale clothing store Marks & Needle at 497 King Street in Charleston. The store remained in operation until 1895. Needle continued to work as a clothing merchant in Charleston after Marks & Needle closed.
