FAMILIES: Moses

William Graham Moses (1874-1948) was born in Sumter, South Carolina to South Carolina native Andrew Jackson Moses (1815-1877) and New Orleans native Adele Levy Moses (1849-1920). As a young man, William served in the Spanish-American War. After he returned to Sumter, William worked as broker. By 1920, however, he started his own business, Moses Wholesale Grocery, which distributed wholesale food, agricultural products, and alcohol. William operated the business through at least 1934.
