Nathan Levine (1887-1964) immigrated to the United States from Russia around 1908 with his nephew, Sam Rubin (1888-1940), and his nephew’s wife, Rebecca Rubin (1894-1962). The trio lived in New York City before they moved to Summerton, South Carolina in 1919. After he arrived in Summerton, Levine started a dry goods business, which he continued to operate until around 1960. Besides his dry goods business, Levine owned a Gulf service station on U.S. Highway 301 at Santee, South Carolina and served as vice-president of Columbia Garment Mills, Inc.
