Around 1939, Russian immigrant Harry Kline (1872-1942) founded the Orangeburg Iron & Metal Co., a scrap metal and second-hand auto parts business located in Orangeburg, South Carolina. After Harry’s death in 1942, his sons, Leonard (1920-2002) and Daniel (1922-1994), took over the business. During World War II, Orangeburg Iron & Metal Co. supplied recycled metal to the U.S. military.
