Born in Russia in 1882, Perry Krasnoff boarded a ship in Liverpool, England in 1900 and arrived in New York on or about July 10 of that year. By 1905, he was living in Ocala, Florida, where he was a partner in dry goods store Krasnoff Bros. In 1906, Perry and his wife, Elsie Hilb (1886-1918) of Goldsboro, North Carolina, whom he married in December 1905, moved to Summerton, South Carolina. There, Perry worked for a year as manager of his relative Max M. Krasnoff’s (1873-1939) store, before becoming the manager of The New Idea store in Manning, which was also owned by M. M. Krasnoff. In 1909, Perry and his wife left Clarendon County and moved to Mullins, South Carolina, where Perry worked as a merchant. In 1911, the Krasnoff family moved again, this time to Sumter, South Carolina, where Perry opened clothing, shoe, and dry goods store The Boston Store at 37-41 North Main Street. After Elsie’s death in 1918, Perry continued operation of The Boston Store until 1924, when he sold the business and moved north (The Boston Store ultimately closed its doors in 1933, although it remains unclear who the new owner was). Perry returned to South Carolina around 1942 and established a liquor store on Cleveland Street in Elloree. The liquor store remained open until around 1948.
