Around 1920, Russian immigrant Solomon Krasnoff (1874-1936) opened clothing, shoe, and dry goods store The Battery in Summerton, South Carolina. A prospective merchant, Krasnoff also owned stores in Sumter, Sardinia, St. Charles, Manning, and Bishopville.
