In 1901, Julien Weinberg, Sr. (1882-1944) and J. A. Brown opened an “up-to-date bicycle shop” in Manning, South Carolina. Weinberg, the son of local grocer Aaron Weinberg (1841-1919) and his wife Rose Levi Weinberg (1855-1923) went on to become a cotton and real estate broker in Manning.
