FAMILIES: Goldberg

Kate Goldberg and her son, Abraham “Abe” Goldberg (b. 1877) opened the clothing store K. Goldberg & Son in 1903, shortly after Abe Goldberg moved from New York with his wife, Esther. After Abe left the business to open Battery Clothing Store, this business was renamed K. Goldberg & Co., with Katie’s husband, Jacob, acting as manager. The store also employed Abe’s brother, Morris Goldberg (b. 1895), as a clerk.

The Jewish Merchant Project is supported by the generosity of the Henry & Sylvia Yaschik Foundation and the Stanley B. Farbstein Endowment at the Coastal Community Foundation.
