Sometime during the 1930s, Lena Levin (1910-1996) married Karol Kalisky (1907-1965), who immigrated to the United States from Poland in 1914. After their marriage, Karol worked as a salesman in a dry goods store before the pair opened Karol’s Shoe Store in Kingstree, South Carolina around 1945. The store closed around 1965.
