FAMILIES: Siegel; Denemark

After Sarah Siegel Denemark (1882-1966) and her husband Jacob (1881-1947) moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1922, Sarah managed a ladies’ ready-to-wear store there for twelve years. In 1934, the Denemarks returned to Sumter, where Sarah opened ladies’ ready-to-wear store The Smart Shop at 27 South Main Street. Mrs. Denemark ran The Smart Shop until it closed in 1958.
