FAMILIES: Cohen and Friedman

Solomon “Jimmy” Cohen (1913-2003) and Ethel Stern Cohen (1929-1976) purchased the Young Fashions Shop at 1627 Main from Sylvia Blumenfeld Friedman in June 1956 and reorganized it as Tots to Teens, which sold boys’ and girls’ fashions. Known as “Columbia’s Distinctive Children’s Apparel Store,” the store regularly advertised deals in The State newspaper. Jimmy Cohen, who married Freda Cohen following his first wife’s death in 1976, sold the business in 1987.
